December Member of the Month: Alexx “Double X” Schultz

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® is proud to recognize Alexx “Double X” Schultz as our December Member of the Month. Alexx’s story is one of service, growth, and rediscovering purpose—both in and out of uniform.

Military Service

Alexx served in the United States Army for 12 years as a 31B Military Police Officer, retiring at the rank of E5 Sergeant. During his career, he was assigned to the 102nd MP Company based out of Sheboygan and Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

His service included two deployments to Afghanistan, where he operated out of Bagram Air Base and Sheberghan in Northern Afghanistan. Throughout his time in the Army, Alexx held leadership roles as both a squad leader and team leader.

He also served as an instructor for the Army’s Ask, Care, Escort (ACE-SI) suicide intervention program, worked as a First Army Observer Controller/Trainer (OC/T), and helped prepare soldiers for overseas deployment. His duties also included customs operations during his first deployment.

Impact & Inspiration

Like many of his generation, Alexx was inspired to serve following the events of September 11th. What began as a calling turned into a life-changing journey.

“When I joined, I was a lost young adult—and I found purpose while serving those 12 years.”

One of his most memorable moments came in an unexpected setting—working alongside Fort McCoy police during a Cheap Trick concert in 2007. It’s a reminder that even in service, there are moments that stand out for their uniqueness and camaraderie.

Life After the Military

Like many veterans, Alexx faced challenges transitioning out of the military—particularly the loss of structure and purpose, as well as the tight-knit connections formed during service.

Today, he continues to serve in a new capacity as a Veterans Benefits Specialist with the Brown County Veterans Service Office, helping fellow veterans navigate the benefits they’ve earned.

His advice to others transitioning out:

“Remember that you have changed—and you can use those experiences to reshape your future. If you ever are in need, reach out. You aren’t alone.”

Finding Purpose Through CVMA®

Alexx joined the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® in search of something many veterans miss after service—purpose and connection.

What he found was more than that.

“It’s a family. I can be there for others when they’re in need and continue to serve.”

One of his favorite memories was getting patched in and shortly after riding to Nationals in Rochester, Minnesota—meeting and connecting with members from across the country.

His message to veterans considering joining:

“The experience you get is based on what you put into it.”

The Ride

Alexx rides a 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200N Nightster—a bike he’s wanted since he first laid eyes on it.

For him, riding is more than just a hobby:

“Riding makes me feel free. It helps me refocus mentally and brings joy and relief on rough days.”

Beyond the Patch

Outside of CVMA®, Alexx enjoys gaming and board games—and proudly admits he’s “somewhat of a nerd.” One fun fact many may not know: he’s a twin.

If given the chance, his dream ride would be a journey across the United States—an experience he believes would be both life-changing and unforgettable.

Closing

Alexx “Double X” Schultz embodies what it means to continue serving beyond the uniform. Whether it’s helping veterans professionally, supporting fellow members through CVMA®, or simply being there when someone needs it most—his impact is undeniable.

Thank you for your service, your commitment, and your continued dedication to veterans.
